Interview Tip of the Month: Connecting With Your Interviewer
Blog 3 Image
People hire people, so it's in your best interest to make a personal connection with your interviewer. Here's how:
  1. Use your interviewer's name periodically throughout your conversation. Make sure you pay close attention during introductions so you get it right!
  2. Match their interview style. If the interviewer is all business, demonstrate a respect for their time by keeping answers short and to the point. If they act as if they've known you forever, mirror their friendliness.
  3. If your interviewer seems nervous or inexperienced, don't mirror that! Instead, try to ease the tension by taking the occasional cleansing breath before answering questions. It'll help you both gain your composure and better connect.
  4. Always thank the interviewer for their time and offer a genuine smile as the interview concludes.
