Statistically, we fear it more than death -- and yet public speaking can do amazing things for your career! Whether you're aiming for a promotion, a job or a better gig, here's how speaking in front of an audience can help you get what you want.

Just because fear is present, it doesn't mean you have to run. Learn how to practice mindfulness, even when you're fearful, to act more courageously.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) shares these tips to protect yourself during flu season:

1. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if they're not available.
2. Avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes (these are entry points for the virus).
3. Avoid shaking hands or coming in close contact with co-workers and others who may be ill.
4. Get vaccinated! It's the most important way to prevent the spread of the flu.
5. Stay at home if you are sick, until 24 hours after your fever breaks.
6. Take care of yourself, getting adequate sleep, water, nutrition and exercise.
