The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) shares these tips to protect yourself during flu season:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if they're not available.
- Avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes (these are entry points for the virus).
- Avoid shaking hands or coming in close contact with co-workers and others who may be ill.
- Get vaccinated! It's the most important way to prevent the spread of the flu.
- Stay at home if you are sick, until 24 hours after your fever breaks.
- Take care of yourself, getting adequate sleep, water, nutrition and exercise.
