Resolutions? Who needs them?
Implement these simple actions to live better in 2023 and make next year your best one yet.
Open
Have the willingness to change things up. The desire to live differently - even in the smallest ways - is the starting point for improvement.
Experiment
When you try something different, be it an activity or an outfit, you learn something. New experiences can change your mindset, conquer a fear, broaden your horizons, or even show you what you don't like.
Declutter
You are surrounded by stuff. By organizing and tidying up even one small space at a time – a closet, a drawer, your desk - you relieve visual stressors and create space for calm efficiency.
Purge
Straightening up won’t provide the boost that getting rid of things will. Every time you bring new things into your home or office, purge something unneeded by recycling, donating or throwing it away.
Stretch
You sit in your car, binge a show, clutch your phone or laptop ... all of which constricts and compresses your body. Regularly stretch your hamstrings, calves, feet, arms, shoulders, neck and fingers to immediately feel better.
Read
Scrolling soundbites or listening to a summary is not enough to fully immerse yourself in an escape or comprehend a topic. Make time to read more - whether chapters of a novel or a well-researched article - and reap the benefits.
Connect
Instead of lunch at your desk, try the break room. Instead of calling your mom, drop by her house. Connecting in person with friends, family and co-workers will improve your quality of life and theirs.
Give
Pay someone a compliment, help a local charity, share your technique: giving to others in a variety of ways helps you as much as them. Giving feels good and reminds you that you exist within a larger community.
Exit
The demands of work and home may keep you inside, but the benefits of being outside are proven. Get some fresh air, stare at the sky, touch grass, stones or dirt - even small moments experiencing nature are good for the mind, body and soul.
Do
Accomplishing a lot of quick little tasks can help you feel positive and productive. Finishing a small to-do list adds satisfaction and frees up time for conquering your big projects.
Multitask
Walk the dog to the post office box; do leg lifts while you brush your teeth; focus on your breathing while filling your gas tank. Adding a beneficial action to an obligation is easier than finding dedicated time for those things.
Streamline
Establish simple routines for your morning, your bedtime, or your lunchtime and alleviate chaos, anxiety, or time-wasting. The planned consistency can allow for better rest or improved motivation.
Partner
Utilize a staffing partner to help make 2023 great for your career – by improving your flexibility and reach, finding you a great new job, and even helping you earn more money.
